Investment Analyst - Boston, MA

Hercules Technology Growth Capital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HTGC) is seeking to add a pre-MBA analyst with up to 2 years experience in the Boston office. Hercules Technology is the leading specialty finance company providing venture debt and equity to venture capital and private equity backed technology and life science companies. We offer growth capital to companies in the forms of senior and subordinated loans, senior revolving loans and bridge loans, and select direct equity capital.

Description:

 

Under the guidance of and in close collaboration with the Managing Directors, responsibilities for analysts include: deal execution, market research and analysis, and support of on-going portfolio management. Specific tasks are as follows:


Initial Deal Review and Execution:

  • Initial deal review and screening in targeted areas of interest within various industries including technologies and life science sub-sectors.
  • Conducting business, financial and industry due diligence.
  • Financial modeling and valuation analysis.
  • Preparing written presentations for Investment Committee.
  • Preparing industry/competitive research.
  • Interacting and establishing rapport with third party due diligence partners as well as potential prospective company management teams.

Portfolio Management:

  • Monitor portfolio company performance.
  • Identify portfolio company future financing opportunities.
  • Assist by drafting quarterly credit and valuation reports.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentations to the Board of Directors.
  • Roles include attending management meetings and key involvement with deal structuring.

Qualifications:

  • Recommended experience: direct private equity, investment banking (M&A), commercial banking (Leveraged Finance), consulting, or principal investing experience in a technology-oriented and/or venture capital environment.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, financial modeling proficiency, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a willingness to be proactive in contacting people and learning.
  • LBO modeling experience.
  • A strong academic record.
